May 9, 2010: His Majesty Jigme Dorji Wangchuck was born on 2nd May 1928 and came upon the Dragon Throne in 1952. Here after the memories of successive governments and even that of the people may falter but His Majesty’s service for the sovereignty and dignity of the Bhutanese Nation and the people will always remain as the founding pillars of modern Bhutan. When His Majesty passed away on 21st July, 1972, the hour of national distress was described as ‘when night fell at noon’.
